And my request for “no pets” sort of makes this not ok:
Pets- I have two dogs names Kaya and JR. They are very sweet and would NEVER bite. I would NEVER ask you to baby-sit, walk them, or feed them. As I am 100 percent reasonable for them.
I’m sure she means “responsible” and not reasonable. Remember, kids, auto-correct just makes sure you use dictionary words. It doesn’t check for context.

I’m early 30s, professional, female. I’d like to find someone to be roommates or multiple people to share a house. I’m respectful, quiet, and calm. I can’t stand passive-aggressive behavior. I prefer to deal with people in an open, straight-forward, polite manner. I expect the same in return.
My hobbies are dancing, playing the fiddle, reading, and knitting. I don’t need a TV, but I do need internet. I love to cook, everything from roasts to pastries to candy. I’m not a partier, but I enjoy conversation, having folks over for tea, and small dinner parties. I have a bicycle that I use for commuting and for riding around town.
My decorating style is Thriftstore meets Ikea. I like a little bit of clutter, and living in a magazine style showplace home freaks me out. I’m clean: dishes, vacuuming, mopping, taking out recycling & trash, no problem. But I don’t care about the small stuff, or if there’s books left on the sofa, or the knitting is on the table. This also means I’m not attached to my furniture, so if you have furniture for the common areas, you’re in luck.
No drama, no smoking, no pets.
This one was wonderfully ambiguous. Is it $650 for a 2 bedroom total (in which case it’s almost definitely a scam) or is it $650 for one room in a 2 bedroom (where I’d have one roommate, which is do-able). So I emailed with my standard questions about heat, parking, and utilities, and got this answer.

My husband currently got a permanent Job in West Africa (Coca-Cola company in Nigeria) I was working as a Medical Doctor here in the state but i finally lost my Job on the month of Jan 18th 2010 due to the accident I had during the envy snow, the accident which almost destroyed most part of my body especially my legs, but I thank God today that I am still alive and i can at least walk again…but I can’t talk very well cos the shock are still in my body according to my Doctor, the best way I can communicate is through writing but I believe with God all things are possible, I have the faith in him that I will be healed perfectly it is just a matter of time.

Anyway, my husband his a very busy man that’s why i told him that i will find a nice,honest and responsible person for this our lovely home It has been a hard time for us.
The apartment is $650 per month we are asking for 1 month rent and security deposit $300. it comes with all utilities Like + Gas, water and electric, dishwasher and microwave and Laundry. A parking space is available.
The kind of tenant we want is A responsible person, serious and trust worthy, who is willing to pay 1 month rent and a security deposit (your credit does not matter to us). Also someone that can take care of the kitchen, because i loves the kitchen very much…
I know you will like to see the unit that not a problem because my husband still need to Pick up some things from the Unit and some documentation in a few days. HE WISH TO USE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHOW THE UNIT.

They don’t ask me if I have the fear of God, but it reads remarkably similar to the $600/1br apartment.
The ad looked normal enough, and the price was perfect. I emailed with a few questions (is the heat gas, electric, or oil; is there parking for snow emergencies; etc.). This is the answer I got.

I’m looking for a new apartment, or roommates. I’d prefer a studio but that’s out of my price range.
Craigslist in December is depressing. All the housing ads are for “mature, responsible college students”, sober houses, or mens’ rooming houses.
